How to use this tool
- Select the income stream that best matches your export.
- Upload a CSV (one row per gift / legacy record / application).
- Map your column headers to the fields below (we'll make sensible guesses).
- Run the diagnostic to see an overall health score, headline indicators, and recommendations.
Amounts are assumed to be in GBP (£). Currency symbols and commas are stripped automatically.

All Individual Giving
Required fields (your CSV must have these 3 columns):
- Donor ID - Examples: "Constituent ID", "Supporter ID", "Contact ID", "Donor Number"
- Gift Date - Examples: "Gift Date", "Donation Date", "Transaction Date", "Date Received"
- Gift Amount - Examples: "Gift Amount", "Donation Amount", "Value", "Total"
Each row should represent one gift from one donor.
Mid-value Giving (Individuals)
Required fields (your CSV must have these 3 columns):
- Donor ID - Examples: "Constituent ID", "Supporter ID", "Contact ID"
- Gift Date - Examples: "Gift Date", "Donation Date", "Transaction Date"
- Gift Amount - Examples: "Gift Amount", "Donation Amount", "Value"
Filter your export to mid-value gifts only (e.g., £500-£5,000) before uploading.
High Value / Major Gifts (Donors only)
Required fields (your CSV must have these 3 columns):
- Donor ID - Examples: "Constituent ID", "Supporter ID", "Contact ID"
- Gift Date - Examples: "Gift Date", "Donation Date", "Transaction Date"
- Gift Amount - Examples: "Gift Amount", "Donation Amount", "Value"
Filter your export to major gifts only (e.g., £10,000+) before uploading.
Legacies / Gifts in Wills
Required field:
- Status - Examples: "Status", "Stage", "Legacy Status" (should contain values like "Enquiry", "Pledged", "Realised")
Recommended fields (for better insights):
- Enquiry Date - When the enquiry was received
- Pledge Date - When the pledge was made
- Realised Date - When the gift was received
- Expected Value - Estimated value
- Realised Value - Actual value received
Each row should represent one legacy record.
Trusts & Foundations
Required fields (your CSV must have these 3 columns):
- Trust Name - Examples: "Funder Name", "Trust Name", "Foundation", "Organisation"
- Application Date - Examples: "Application Date", "Submitted Date", "Date Applied"
- Status - Examples: "Status", "Outcome", "Result" (should contain values like "Successful", "Declined", "Pending")
Recommended fields (for better insights):
- Decision Date - When the decision was made
- Ask Amount - Amount requested
- Granted Amount - Amount awarded (for successful applications)
Each row should represent one grant application.
💡 Pro Tips:
- Your CSV headers don't need to match exactly - the tool will guess the mapping
- Date formats: DD/MM/YYYY or YYYY-MM-DD both work
- Currency symbols (£, $) and commas are automatically stripped
- Make sure each row represents one record (one gift, one application, one legacy)
- Remove any summary rows or totals from your export
